Erika Plez - Virtual Guard Instructor Bio

Hi! My name is Erika Plez and I am a 26 year old Scorpio, born in October in Norfolk Virginia. As a child, I joined dance between the ages 5-6. I started my marching arts career doing Jazz and Ballet dance. In the 8th grade I moved to New Jersey and that's where I found my passion for Color Guard. I went to Washington Township High School in Sewell New Jersey.

I began my color guard career my sophomore year of high school by joining the Township Marching Band and the Township Mirage Indoor Guard. I became Captain of the color guard my senior year. My first year of guard I joined Drum Corps at Jersey Surf Drum and Bugle Corp in 2011. I stayed there from ages 15-21, where I was captain of the color guard my last 3 seasons. I went to Wesley College for undergrad in 2013, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Criminal Justice. I recently completed graduate school from Wesley College in Criminal Justice. I live in Delaware and work for a Registered Agent Company called COGENCY GLOBAL INC.

While in college I marched AMP Open Independent Guard in 2017, and AMP WORLD Guard in 2018 and 2019. Last season I started teaching AMP OPEN & AMP A Independent Guard, and I have continued there this year. I have been teaching the color guard at Shawnee High School for their marching band program for the past 3 years. This year I have started my personal color guard channel called "Color Guard With Plezzz!" (Click to subscribe!) I also have a YouTube show on STYLEPLUS TV called "Beyond The Color" (click to watch!). Both of these channels have opened so many doors but also keep me involved in color guard even in Corona times. I am so happy to be on board and I cannot wait to see what is in store!
